A 72-year-old grandfather, Liu Xianping, has become something of an internet sensation after he began modelling for his granddaughter’s online clothing store.

Liu’s granddaughter runs Yuekou, a partnership between herself and four other recent college graduates. While Liu was helping the girls unpack, “he picked up one piece and tried to give some advice on how to mix and match. We thought it was fun so we started shooting.”

By Friday, Rah and I had packed the kitchen to an extent where making food in the bare apartment was an impractical (and exhausting!) prospect. So we went to Roxy’s for a meal out, and brought the sketchbooks. Rah coveted my chicken fried steak and covertly begged for bites, which lead to a conversation about the first, second, and third generation looming tactics of a very particular family in my head. And then Rah sketched it out and I helped and she made it pretty. 

Edit: Derp, sorry Rah. Suren (Dude being loomed over in 4), Anise (Pointing to mouth), and Skawa (Kid with bandanna) are all her characters. Everyone else came from my head. 

I’m sensing a Pyrrhic victory here. Five people, one tub of ice cream?

THE FUCKING BABY ONE THO OMFG

The main thing that bugs me is just conflating “pay no income tax” with “take no personal responsibility”. As noted, there are lots of ways you can work hard, pay taxes, and still not pay income tax.

And the less money you make, the harder you’re working. All those janitors, cooks, waiters, shelf stockers, cashiers, delivery people, farm workers, and low-end factory workers who make life bearable for the rest of us while earning minimum wage? They work WAY harder than my income tax-paying ass. And let’s not talk about how hard migrant laborers and sweatshop workers work, and how little they make.

Contribution to society: Not measured by how much society contributes to YOU.
